Consult Fees
We are part of a growing number of medical practices that believe your doctor’s relationship should be with you and not your insurance company. As a result, we don’t contract with any insurers. We are “out of network” for all insurance companies and do not bill Medicare.
Payment is requested at the conclusion of your visit. We accept credit cards, debit cards, HSA cards, cash, and personal checks. At the end of each visit, we will provide you with a an itemized “superbill” to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
Patients with a PPO are typically reimbursed between 50-100%. Many patients successfully use HSA accounts to pay for their medical services.
why we opted out of insurance
The average medical visit is now 12 minutes long? Not so long ago, 30-45 minute doctor visits were the norm. But unfortunately, over the past 20 years, insurance-based medical practices have felt the squeeze due to lower reimbursements. Making things even worse, doctors have had higher and higher overhead costs including having to pay for extra staff to haggle with insurance companies.
As a result, in an insurance-based model, doctors are forced to see a high volume of patients every day just to cover their overhead, and visit times have been cut by 50% or more so doctors can squeeze in more patients. This treadmill model of care is not just creating long wait times, it’s also dangerous for patients, costing quality of care, and burning out primary care physicians. This is bad for our country and even worse for our health.
This is why fewer and fewer doctors choose to go into primary care, and why we have the most expensive healthcare system in the world. There are a growing number of doctors who reject this production-based approach to medical care.
We believe that you deserve to have a doctor who focuses on you and not on the number of patients each day.
